BAD SYSTEM CONFIG INFO Windows 7

    General discussion

  • So, just throwing this up there for posterities sake.  Had a user run into this BSOD when starting windows.  Deduced from somewhere that it's saying that the registry is corrupt.

There are posts all over the internet with people who have tried and failed to resolve this through system restore, etc... so I just skipped that, booted into system restore, and copied the files from c:\windows\system32\config\RegBack (which are a backup that windows made of the registry a few weeks ago, for me) to c:\windows\system32\config (where the registry hives usually sit).

    works fine now.
