An error occurred while troubleshooting, 0x8007017

    Question

  • I am experiencing a problem with my wireless networking on my Windows 7 computer.  The computer does not recognize wireless signals.  When I attempt to troubleshoot the problem, I receive the following error:

    An error occurred while troubleshooting:
A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting.
    Package ID: Unknown
    Path: C:\Windows\Diagnostics\system\networking
    Error Code:0x80070017
    Source: Engine
    User:  PC
    Context: Restricted

All drivers are up to date.  When the PC is plugged into a wired network, no connection errors occur, but attempting to run the troubleshooter causes Windows Explorer to crash and reset itself.  Running Startup Repair did not fix the issue.

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

The wireless signal also can be affected the wireless route. Can the computer access other wireless signals?

Although all the drivers are up to date, I still suggest updating the latest wireless network adapter driver from manufacturer's website. Meanwhile, you can re-configure the wireless settings from the route.
