PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 PE missing MSVCR71.dll file

    Question

  • I received PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 PE software with my Panasonic DMC-ZS19 camera.  I installed and uninstalled, then reinstalled and I still cannot get the software to work or even open.  I get a system error message that reads "The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."  My operating system is Windows 7.  How can I fix to get software to work on my PC?  Is there somewhere I can go to get the missing MSVCR71.dll and download it?  Please advise.

  • Hi. Would you try to copy those files to folder, where you have installed PhotoFunStudio? (a folder should be c:\program files (or program files (x86)\something).

  • I did copy the two files msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll to folder c:\program files (x86)\Panasonic\PhotofunStudio81  and I was able to open and use the photo software.  I appreciate all your help!

  • There are two options:
    1) Check/contact Panasonic Website for updates

    2) Missing library and procedure how to fix it is described here: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/fix-msvcp71-dll-and-msvcr71-dll-missing-error-in-windows-7/

Unfortunately I did not find any official solution from Microsoft.

  • Sorry, I meant to mention I did check with Panasonic first, but they said it was not their error and they recommended I contact Microsoft.   I am using Windows 7 64-Bit OS.  I did go to the link with the two .dll files and unfortunately, I am totally a "beginner" when it comes to computer usage, so I got stuck trying to extract the two files that were in zip format.  If you can take me step by step, in laymen terms, or provide a different solution, I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you!

  • It's OK. Here is a short video tutorial, how to zip/unzip files in Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Compress-and-uncompress-files-zip-files

Open a .zip file and use copy/paste (ctrl-c to copy files from source folder and ctrl-v to paste files in destination folder) to copy those files to folder with camera files or to c:\windows\SysWOW64

  • Thank you for the video.  I was able to unzip the two files msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll, place on my desktop, and then extract into the proper folder SysWOW64.  I tried to then open PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 PE already installed, but got the same error message "The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer.  Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."  I then uninstalled PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 PE, extracted the two files from my desktop again, then reinstalled PHOTOfunSTUDIO 8.1 PE, and this software still would not open and I received the same error message.  FYI.

Note:  When this error message pops up, it does not allow me to close the message by clicking the X on top and/or clicking the OK on this small screen.  In fact, I have to do a "force" restart or shutdown to close out.
