error installing cardscan 7.05 on windows 8 64-bit

    Question

  • Hi, I recently upgraded to the RTM version of Windows 8 64-bit Enterprise Edition and have not been able to install the CardScan v7.05 software (used with the CardScan 700C2) which I have been able to on Windows 8 Release Preview. It's stuck during the InstallShield installation process when it tries to download dotnetfx from Microsoft, citing file not found and I then have to abort the installation process. The problem is about installing the cardscan software and not about the hardware driver.

Installing in compatibility mode doesn't help either as it bumps into the same problem.

Is there a way to bypass the check / installation of dotnetfx by installshield?

  • 1. What do logs say? Not sure if prerelease appplication compatibility list is the same as final one. Chack for both.

    2. What version of .NET the program uses? Look into Windows features or install standalone version.

    3. If installation is based on msi, then look for appropriate parameters (Perhaps something like ISSETUPDRIVEN=1. A good starting point is http://www.itninja.com/)
