Issue with Parashara's Light 6.1 and 7.0 Compatibility with Windows 7 64 bit

    Question

  • APPCRASH compatibility issue with the software. This application works great with Windows Vista 64 bit and XP as well. However, after installing the Windows 7 64 bit version, I have been getting the APPCRASH error as soon as it is executed. Tried to use the Windows XP virtual pc mode inside the windows 7 as well, still no results unfortunately.

  • If it had worked on Vista 64 bit - chances are high it will work on Windows 7 as well.
    Try to run the application as admin and see if your getting the same error. If will be helpful if you can give more details about the error message.

    To goto event viewer
    Start -->Administrator Tools -->Event Viewer

    Then naviagte to Window Log , Click on Application Log and search for 'Parashara's light' in the list. Copy and paste the details here.

  • Hi J.B,

    As per my knowledge almost all applications which are compatible on Windows Vista should run smoothly on Windows 7.
    Since you are facing the application crash,here are some workarounds that you may like to try.

    A.Run the application in compatibility mode for Vista/XP
    ========================================================
     Step 1:Right click on the application executable.
     Step 2:Click on properties.
     Step 3:Click on compatibility tab
     Step 4:Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
     Step 5:Select Windows XP/Vista whichever suits you.
     Step 6:Click OK and run the application

    B.Run the application as Administrator
    =========================================================
     Step 1:Right click on the application executable.
     Step 2:Select "Run as Administrator" from the menu.

    If none of the above methods work,then you may like to uninstall the application completely and install the application with administrator privilages.

    C.Install the application with Administrator privilages
    =========================================================
     Step 1:Right click on the application installer.
     Step 2:Select "Run as Administrator" from the menu.

    Hope this helps.

  • Tried Virtual mode for XP under windows 7  - This should have worked.
    Can you go to event viewer under Administrator tools - and look for  Parashara's Light  under Window Logs->Applications and paste the error details here.

    Did you check with the vendor?

    Version 7 looks like its compatible with Win 7 64 bit.
