Installing MySQL ODBC 3.51 or 5.1 on WIndows 7

    Question

  • I have tried to install MySQL ODBC 3.1 on Windows 7 with no luck. I've tried both the 32-bit and 64 bit version.
I downloaded the 3.1 setup and it ran successfully, I can see the DLL in windows\system32. But this driver does not show up in Windows ODBC Source Admin.
Has anyone successfully installed MySQL ODBC 3.1 on Windows 7 ?

  • First, you can found some useful information in the MySQL forum. Why not try the latest version, and you can refer to the following link to install the MYSQL:

    http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/windows-installation.html

As I am not sure whether you're on a 32 or 64 bit Windows 7 right now. If you are 64 bit, you can refer to this article: Installing MyODBC 3.51 on Windows 7 x64.

I hope this can help you.

  • I had a similar problem using ADODB 32 bit on a VB app with Windows 7 64 bit, you do need to use the 32 bit odbcad32 located in the  SysWOW64 folder but you also need to install the 64 bit driver and the 32 bit driver for MySQL (they come together in the 64 bit download) doing this ended 3 months of frustration trying to get my 32 bit app to work on Windows 7

Also use the newest MySQL ODBC driver, 3.51

    Good luck!
