KB961742-v3 won`t install

    Question

  • Hi,
as I`m new to this forum at first a friendly Hello @ all :)

After I had installed Windows 7 Home Premium (32) today I decided to try building my own "XP-Mode" as I still had an old Windows XP OEM
Licence which I was not using anymore.

    1. I enabled Virtualisation features in Bios (Intel Core Quad 6600)
    2. installed Virtual PC 2007 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx)
    3. created a new virtual machine and installed Windows XP Home (32)
    4. installed all Service Packs and Updates
    5. installed VP 2007 Integration Features
    6. but when I tried to install KB961742-v3.exe (Update for Windows XP SP3 to enable RemoteApp) on the XP Guest machine the setup was cancelled after a few seconds and the  following error message appeared:

    KB961742-v3 Setup-Error
Setup can not be continued because one or more requirements for the installation of KB961742-v3 are not fulfilled. Further information can be found
    in c:\windows\KB961742-v3.log.

  • If you go to Microsoft's site on KB961742, it says:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E5433D88-685F-4036-B435-570FF53598CD&displaylang=en

    "System Requirements
    • Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Service Pack 3
Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (SP3)
    "

So is this an error on this page?
