Program Files(86)

    Question

  • Many programs choke on the C:\Program Files(86)\ . Don't you think it would be better if it was c:\Program Files\ for the 32 bit software and C:\Program Files(64)\ for 64 bit software? If a program is being written for the 64bit os it could be coded for that directory easier than it will take to patch many of the 32 bit programs to handle the (86)\ directory.

I have been trying some of the accounting software for my industry and they have all been choking. All look for the  c:\Program Files\  for data paths and such.

Still havin' a blast with vista 64, I love this stuff
