Fail to activate my windows 8 laptop with error code 0xC004F074

  • Hello!

    I bought a TOSHIBA laptop a month ago with a pre-installed Windows 8.

    It works perfectly fine during the last month, however in this week it keeps popping up a screen asking me to activate my windows. But then I failed to activate as I received the following error message:

    Error code: 0xC004F074

    Error message: The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Event Log for additional information.

    When I looked at my application event log, i found the following two errors:

    I tried to look for the solutions online and tried almost all ways, including entering slmgr.vbs -ato in cmd but it still returned the same error code to me.

    According to the Diagnostic Report, considering that the issue should be related to OEM version. I suggest you contact TOSHIBA support for help.

  • You bought a new laptop right, and your key is in your bios. You need to phone Microsoft 

    contact Microsoft licensing team. In the United States and Canada, you may call the licensing team directly at 1-800-426-9400  Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. It is Xmas holiday so you may have no luck.

    BTW is there bios updates for your laptop, check for any updates for  your laptop. I've had problems similar and a bios update fix it or windows update

    This error code is a very generic output to a KMS client having problems activating.

    But,according to your description,I think your computer is a OEM version for windows 8,right?If I misunderstand your true meaning, please feel free to let me know.

    To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation,we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool: 

    Download and save to desktop:http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 

    Once saved, run the tool. 

    Click on the Continue button,which will produce the report.

    To copy the report to your response,click on the Copy button in the tool(ignore any error messages at this point),and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
