XP mode loses default gateway after inactivity

    Question

  • I've been occasionally seeing the XP mode guest (Host running Windows 7
SP1 x64) losing it's default gateway after being automatically suspended
    after all applications were closed.

Looking at ipconfig shows the IP lease is current, and all fields appear
correct except that the default gateway is missing entirely.

Renewing (without a release) resolves the problem.

I have the VM's NIC bound directly to a NIC on the host, not using NAT
    mode.

    Anyone else seen similar?

  • What if you set the following:

    Key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

    Value: EnableDeadGWDetect

    Does this have an effect?
