    Please try to uninstall other third party tools and then install the .NET Framework 4.0 to check whether this issue is related other programs.


    In addition, please ensure the .NET Framework 4.0 is download from Microsoft official website.

  • Hi,


    I suggest you try the following:


    1. Refer to Windows Update error 80244016, 8024402f, or c80003fa and try the steps.

    2. Scan the virus for the system

    3. Temporarily close Windows Firewall to check the result


    If issue persists, you can upload your Windowsupdate.log for further research.

    To reset the Windows Update components, follow these steps:
      • Open a Windows Command Prompt Windows. To open a command prompt, click Start and then click Run. Copy and paste (or type) the following command in the Open box and then press ENTER:

      • Stop the BITS service and the Windows Update service. To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt. Press ENTER after you type each command.
        • net stop bits
        • net stop wuauserv
      • Delete the qmgr*.dat files. To do this, type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:
        Del "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat"
      • If this is your first attempt at resolving your Windows Update issues by using the steps in this article, go to step 5 without carrying out step 4. Step 4 should only be performed at this point in the troubleshooting if you cannot resolve your Windows Update issues after following all steps but step 4. The steps in step 4 are also performed by the "Aggressive" mode of the Fix it Solution above:
        1. Rename the following folders to *.BAK:
          • %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore
          • %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\Download
          • %systemroot%\system32\catroot2
          To do this, type the following commands at a command prompt. Press ENTER after you type each command.
          • Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore *.bak

  • Hello,

    I Install Windows 7 on other machine and run updates successfully, then start installing applications and run Windows update after each installation, I found after installing report viewer that Windows update fail with the same error code, I uninstall and restart machine but still the same issue, then I notice that .NET frame work 4.0 installed with report viewer, and after uninstall .NET framework 4 and restart, Windows update work!!!

    So my issue is with .NET Framework 4.0 and it's required for me, do you have any suggestion?

  • I have used this tool successfully number of times.

    So remove .NET 4.0 and try again.
