Media player 11 enterprise deployment pack

    Question

  • Good morning all,

I'm needing to deploy WMP 11 via GPO however I understand I need the enterprise deployment pack.  I'm unable to find this on the MS websites.  Can anyone point me to a link for it?

    Cheers

  • A bit old thread but if anyone get sendt here from a search(like i did), i would like to provide the solution.

First of all, it looks like the software used is not supported anymore(microsoft say: "buy system center"). Dont trust anything i say, dont blame me for anything you break using this information.

There is no tool to make an MSI out of WMP11, fortunatly they forgot that the installer works just the same as the installer for  WMP10.

Now we only need the to locate the enterprice deployment pack for WMP10, unfortunatly that is gone from microsofts download sites(some may have a direct link and that would be awesome). But as 'MCTS: Google searcher' we can find sites like http://theether.net/download/Microsoft/Windows/ where we have the mpedp.exe installer. If this site goes down you can find it on multiple other sites by searching for mpedp.exe, please note mp9edp.exe(wmp 9) or earlier versions do not work. Remember you are downloading files at your own responcability, check that the file is signed by microsoft.

So, you have the file, install that to where it wants to be. Now download WMP11 setup from microsoft to the 'Redist' folder under the location you installed the MPEDP(c:\mpedp\redist\), name the file mpsetup.exe.

Now run the mpedp.exe(c:\mpedp\mpedp.exe) answer the questions it asks, and you get a msi-install in the release folder(c:\mpedp\release\).

And there we go, you can deploy wmp11 to your computers.

Or you could just invest in system center, and not curse over that microsoft breaks GPO deployment for all their newer products.
