Answers

  • File History of Windows 8 regularly backs up versions of your files in the Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, and Desktop folders on your PC.That doesn't include PST files which are stored in C:\Users\<user account\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook and aren't included in any of those libraries.

  • Are you asking where the Outlook data files are located because I've given the location in my original question above?

  • The location you mentioned is the default one, there it stores.

  • Thanks you for your reply.

In Windows 8, if I click Control Panel - File History it states:

"Copy files from: libraries, desktop, contacts, favourites and SkyDrive"

So you are saying that Contacts in the above statement doesn't mean my Outlook Contacts, it refers to some other Contacts?

  • Contact Folders can be useful if you have your contacts in a single .vcf file and want to move them into a .csv file for importing into programs like Outlook 2013.

Go through the following article, hope it helps:

How to Import Contacts Into and Export Contacts From the Windows Contacts Folder

  • To clarify what S.Sengupta said, the answer is NO. File History DOES NOT automatically backup your .ost files. (S.Sengupta mention the .pst files and their location, that also applies to the .ost files).

The solution is to move your .ost and .pst files to a folder that is backed up by File History.

    I hope that helps.
