VPN IP6 -TCP/IP DNS suffixes not able to append as greyed out

    Question

  • I am setting up a VPN to my work network from a remote location.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate (64) and I am logged in as an administrator but I cannot add in the DNS suffixes I need in the Advanced TCP/IP menu - they are greyed out / not selectable.  I have tried the gpedit.msc route and set the DNS Client "allow DNS Suffix Appending to unqualified Multi-Label ......"  to enabled but this hasn't helped .

Is there something I am missing ?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Based on my research, I find it is by design on windows 7.

It looks you should select the workaround to resolve this issue.

I would like to suggest to configure a DNS suffix search list as a workaround.

The policy is under Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Network\DNS Client\DNS suffix search list.
