CISCO VPN Client Fails to Connect in XP Mode - Unexpected SW error occurred while processing Identity Protection

    Question

  • I am able to connect using the CISCO VPN client just fine when running the full Windows Virtual PC image, however when attempting to run the published app in XP Mode the VPN client begins to authenticate but then just stops with no direct error notification given.  I just upgraded my VPN client version from 5.0.05 to 5.0.06 thinking that the new version would fix the issue but it did not.

I enabled logging in the VPN client and the output is as follows:

  • What are you trying to accomplish by running the VPN client via published apps?  This won't give your Windows machine access to the VPN, the VPN will be between the VM and the VPN server, not the host machine and the VPN server.
