SFC - windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them

    Question

  • Hi,

Having run SFC on a Windows 7 laptop we get the warning:
windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them

Examination of the cbs.log shows the following two files causing this:
Cannot repair member file "DHCPQEC.DLL" of Microsoft-Windows-Dhcp-Nap-Enforcement-Client
Cannot repair member file "no_rl.cur" of Microsoft-Windows-Shell-acccursor

Any idea how to fix these?

Are either of these files important or can we just ignore these errors.

    Thanks,
      Nick

If those are the only two "could not fix" you may be able to ignore them

dhcpqec.dll is the avant internet browser upgrade for windows internet explorer. If you arent chowing any errors in event viewer and IE is working well.

I suspect you ran SFC because you were experiencing a problem and suspect there is more to it than just these.  You could upload your event viewer logs for a peek

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:

    Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here (if you can) to skydrive or a file sharing service

  • Well this laptop did previously have some very awkward issues related Igdpmd64.sys but that is all now solved.  Just running SFC for good measure, no known issues any more.

Then dont worry about it unless symptoms arise.

    Good Luck and good job

  • Hi Leo,

Never did find any answer to the SFC errors but laptop has gone back to it's user anyway.  As far as I know it is still working.

You need to start your own thread and post the logs here.  This thread is from March and few (if any) people will see it.
