Error Mounting ISO in Win8.1

    Question

  • Hi,

after upgrading from Win8 to 8.1 I cannot mount any ISO-files anymore in explorer. Although the ISO seems to be valid (I can mount the ISO perfectly on an other machine with win8. Waiting to upgrade is to 8.1 until this issue is solved.) If I use an ISO to boot from in a virtual machine, all works fine.

I've tried all tips found so far :

    - reboot

    - setting .iso to have isofile, or explore as its default application

    - copying the file to another location

    - mingling with the registrykey 'upper/lowerfilter'

    - installed all latest updates

    any other suggestions ?

  • Hi,

You can check if this ISO file is set as a sparse flag.

Some people who copy to another location would succeed mounting the ISO file, just because this would remove the sparse flag.
