How to unlock my homepage on IE 8?

    Question

  • I need help! For some reason my IE 8 locked my homepage. As a consequence I cannot change the homepage through the Internet Options within IE.
    I have tried to Unlock it by doing the below
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel]
    "Homepage"=dword:00000000
    I couldn't find Internet Explorer\Control Panel under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft.
    Please, I really need to change my homepage as soon as possible. Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

    What homepage is using now and what happens when trying to change homepage?

    If resetting IE does not work, you can try the following tool:

    1. Please download the process analysis tool, HiJackThis, from the following link:

    2. Right click on the downloaded file and click "Run as administrator" to run HiJackThis.

    3. In the HiJackThis Window, click "Do a system scan only".
