  • Hi,

“WindowsUpdate FFFFFFFE” means an important update can't be installed because of a problem on your computer. The problem is usually caused by a malware (malicious software) infection on your computer. To prevent the computer from becoming unstable, Windows won't install the update.

I recommend that you may take following steps to troubleshoot this issue:

    1.       Download Microsoft Security Essentials from the following website:

    http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx

    2.       Install Microsoft Security Essentials and upgrade to the latest version.

    3.       Perform a full system scan via Microsoft Security Essentials.

    4.       Try to run Windows Update again.

    Please refer:

    Hope that helps

  • The answer provided is obviously incorrect, since the error  "WindowsUpdate_FFFFFFFE" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" occurred when updating Microsoft Security Essentials.  I have been applying the daily updates from Microsoft for their Security Essentials app, and this is the first time that I have received this error.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks.
