  • I get this error WindowsUpdate_80070103" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" and only issue in my device manager is the "Multi Media Audio Controller". Another symptom is that I don't have sound on my computer after installing Win7 Beta or after installing Win7 RC. My best guess is that the update windows is trying to install fails because it's incompatible with the standard sound card on my Latitude D600 laptop.
    Other than this Win7 rocks!!!!!

  • Win 7 rocks, agreed.  However, I too am running the Win 7 RC on my Latitude D600 and I am encountering the same errors from Windows Update.  What is interesting is when I was running the Win 7 Beta Build 7000 I had no hardware issues...at all.  Device manager error free, including the sound card, which was fully functional.  I believe the RC is just identifying the audio card incorrectly, dell identifies it as SIGMATEL STAC 9750 AC97,whereas Windows Update is attempting to install Microsoft driver update for Intel(r) 82801DB/DBM AC '97 Audio Controller.    This is the link to the driver on dell's support site, I have not tested it on Win 7 RC just yet.

    I hope this helps.

I have tested this solution and have found it to be a complete success, no restart required.  And there was much rejoicing. <yay>

  • The above driver from Dell ftp fixed the audio on my Latitude D600 Win 7 RC. Thanks Ironicus!
