HDMI doesn't work from Laptop to TV now

    Question

  • Hi there.

I have no other ideas on this issue so im asking for your help.

I recently tried connecting my laptop to a tv to create a xternal display to share movies, tv, pictures with my family and recently moved away from VGA.  So I decided to use my HDMI cable that I usually use for my XBOX 360. Using my HDMI for my xbox to tv works perfectly, but when I connect it to my laptop, it isn't displayed in the other displays option in Screen Resolution/Other display etc.  It workes sometimes and sometimes it does not.  I went to a radical step of connecting my xbox to tv and immediately connecting the xbox end back to the pc and it surprisinly worked.  But now I cant get a signal out of it since.  It randomly connects and sometimes it wont work at all.

    Other details.

    Sony Bravia KDL-37V5500 TV

    Samsung S3511 Laptop

    • Intel(R)Core(TM) i3 CPU
    • 2.53GHz
    • 3GB
    • 64 Bit Operating System
    • Windows 7 Home Premium Pack 1

  • HDMI requires both a video driver and an audio driver as Windows 7 does not have that built in.  Ensure your video drivers and your audio drivers are up to date.

If you still have problems contact Samsung Techncial Support as you may have a hardware problem.

Im so sorry but I just realised that the cable is acting faulty (for other devices also) and this is only occuring in last couple of hours so I will probably need a new one. Im deeply sorry for making this post for no reason.

BUT when I get a new one (unless i get a 3.5 male to male to go with VGA) I will follow these driver steps as you mentioned.

    but

also be aware, every time you unplug the cable from the laptop, most likely
you will have to use the video card software to reset the display to HDMI TV
    mode.
