Using NetDDE in Windows7

    Question

  • My company has an application that runs in the WinXP system.  It uses NetDDE to communicate between computers on a private network (no internet connectivity allowed).  The application (I have found) runs quite well on Windows7 but does not communicate in Windows7.  Is there a 'Windows7' alternative to NetDDE?  I know it was removed for security purposes....but can it be reinstalled and used?  Any answers, links to appropriate documentation would be helpful.

    Thanks...............Dave

  • Hi Dave,

As far as I know,  NetDDE was removed from Windows XP, but was still available on the installation CD. For security reasons, beginning with Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, Windows no longer supports NetDDE at all. Thank you for your understanding.
