Configure a User Account with no access to the network

    Question

  • I have a standalone station that provides a software service on a User Account with a distributed login/password, perhaps even a no-password login.

For security's sake, I want network access to be disabled when someone locally logs onto this User Account.

Windows XP is documented on the web with a 'hack' to prevent access by setting the network proxy to a local port without a listener.

Is there a more elegant, and working solution for Windows 7 ?

    Thanks for your consideration.

  •   Not really. Network and Internet access is considered a standard requirement these days. By default Windows 8 logs on to Windows Live, not to a local account!

It is really a matter of the local security settings. If the account does not have Admin privilege you should be able to disable networking using the local Admin account.
