how to make all folders default to list

    Question

  • In Windows 7, I want to set the default view for ALL FOLDERS to List rather than Details. It was so easy in XP, how do I do that?

    thanks

  • Hello Nick,

    To do this:
1- Go to any folder (not library location) and use the drop down on the upper right to change the view to List.
    2- Open folder options (shortcut is Alt + T + O)
3- Go to the View Tab
4- Click on Apply To Folders

Note that this changes the Folder View and not the Libraries view. Libraries are designed in such a way to optimize for the type of content they view. You can still change the individual libraries view using the same method and it should persist.

    Thanks,
    Tarek
