windows pcsc

    Question

  • As a realtor, we use lockboxes that are accessed by a "card" that has to be updated once a week.  I just installed the "SentriLock Card Utility" program, but when I open it, it says it is waiting for "Windows pcsc service to start".  what is window pcsc, and how do I get it to start????  I have a new hp dv6 with windows 7

  • I couldn't find a "pcsc" service in my Windows 7 installation, so I think it could be a service installed together with the utility program you've installed to use the card.
Open the Services console by typing "services.msc" and pressing ENTER in the Start menu; scroll the services list and look for a service like the one indicated by the error message, verify the service startup type and change it if necessary.

    Bye.

  • The SC portion of PCSC stands for Smart Card. I also have an hp dv6 and I receive this error when the SentriLock (insert your smart card reader provider) is not physically connected when I attempt to start the Card Utility software to do an update.
