Always Available Offline Missing

    Question

  • On a machine running Windows 8, I have mapped network drives to two other computers on network, one running Windows XP, the other running Windows Vista.  Am attempting to make certain folders on these network drives available offline, for indexing purposes (to, for example, include pictures on one of the mapped drives in the Pictures library on the Windows 8 machine.  When right clicking the folders on the mapped drives, the "Always Available Offline" option does not exist.  It isn't greyed it, it just isn't there at all.  Any suggestions?

    Thank you.

  • I suggest that you create a new user profile and check if the issue exists with it.

If the issue is still present, I suspect that the offline folder cache is corrupt. Please try to reset the cache.

    1. Open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Sync Center
    2. Click “Manage Offline Files”.
    3. Click “View your offline files”.
    4. Clear all contents.
    5. Click the “Disk Usage” tab.
    6. Click “Delete temporary files”.

If the issue persists, please use the “Method 2” in the following article.

How to re-initialize the offline files cache and database

After the above step you may manually check if the cache is cleared.
