No Login in Windows 8

    Question

  • Hi all,

I am unable to login to my Win8. Normally, a press of the keyboard/mouse would bring up the login screen, where your avatar pic, name and password login is presented. In my case, I can only see my name. Nothing else. Not even the avatar pic and password login prompt. Basically, I can't login given that I am unable to input my password.

I've tried the followings without any luck.....

    1. Reset the BIOS

    2. System restore to earlier time by booting from installation disc

    3. Starting in Safe mode by choosing the power icon on bottom right and click restart together with shift key.

Tried all of the above and back to square one. No password login prompt. arrghhh

Can anyone please suggest if I have missed out on anything. Many thanks in advance....

  • Hi,

Could you please make a screenshot for me?

I suggest to try creating another administrator account to see if the same issue occurs.

If the issue persists, try to switch Microsoft account login for test.

  • Since when this problem started?

Did you upgrade to Windows 8 or is it pre-installed or fresh installed?

Are you using local account or Microsoft account to login?

  • Win 8 is fresh install and I am using a local account to login. Would that be a problem? Using a local account? Basically, I'm locked out  of the system. This is worse than forgetting your password. :-)

    Any help would be appreciated....
