Change user registry settings for Windows Explorer

    Question

  • Hello,

I want to change some of the settings in

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

for the currently logged in (non-admin) user. I tested executing a .reg-file as (logged in as the user) and changing the values with the reg.exe command. It is no problem to set the settings (like <tt>"HideFileExt"=dword:00000000)  - regedit.exe shows that they are set.</tt>

But as soon as I close and open the Windows Explorer the settings are back to default.<tt>"HideFileExt"=dword:00000001.</tt>

Any ideas how I can change these settings for the user with the mentioned methods?

    thx,

    hugo<tt></tt>
