MOVIE MAKER HAS STOPPED WORKING!!!!!!!

    Question

  • I am constantly getting a "Movie Maker has stopped working" error message every time I try to load a project that is anything more than a few minutes long. I have tried EVERYTHING that I have found online to try to fix the problem ... update drivers, codecs, checked video file format for compatibility, system specs, etc., etc. NOTHING WORKS! PLEASE HELP.

  • Yes, try to uninstall it

    • go to control panel
    • add/remove programs
    • click add/remove windows components
    • use the details button to see specific components
    • you should be able to see it listed, so you can add it, and remove it
    • remove movie maker
    • download movie maker and install it here                                                        http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker#t1=overview

  • Hi,

We can run SFC to replace the missing or corrupted system files.

Start --> Run --> Type cmd and press the Enter button.

Type the command : sfc /scannow

We can also try to repair Windows Live Movie Maker.

Start>Control Panel>click Uninstall a program>Double click Windows Live Essential>Select Repair Windows Live Movie Maker.

If the issue persists, We can check the Event log to see what caused the error.

Start>type eventvwr in the search box>click Enter.

Or try the methods above to reinstall the application.

But Since the application is not a part of Windows 7, In order to get more valuable suggestions, I recommend you go to Windows Essential Forum for further help.

You need to run SFC with elevated privileges.  (run as admin)
