Little Red Shield

    Question

  • I have a red shield in the bottom corner of my computer I understand its some sort of virus. I have run all the virus scans etc but it's still there how do i get rid of it.

I am a technophobe when it comes to computers so simple straightforward basic instructions would help !!

    Many thanks

Hi TDDW, thanks for the post. For the red shield, this can be a notification from Security Center. It notifies you security related items. You can either check the notification, make appropriate changes or select not to display the warning. If you want to disable the notification and the red shield, you can go to Start - Control Panel – Security Center – Change the way Security Center alerts me – Don't notify me and don't display the icon.

If this is not from Security Center and you suspect this is a virus related issue, I suggest you try a free online virus scan on the following site:

    http://safety.live.com

Meanwhile, if you need more help with virus-related issues, visit the Microsoft Virus Solution and Security Center for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy.

    Hope this helps!
