Epson R300 Printer with Vista Home Premium

    Pregunta

  • Re Epson Stylus Photo R300 .  My O/S is Vista Home Premium.  My printer has worked satisfactorily for about 12 months. It suddenly stopped working  and I got a message saying USB Device Not recognised.  A device has malfunctioned.  I contacted Epson and went through various procedures without success and the technician told me it must be a problem with Vista.  I tried deleting the printer and reinstalling but got the same message.  I tried doing it via the "Add Printer" in control panel and I actually managed to print a test page but next time I tried to print it wouldn't.  I took the printer to an Epson Express Repair Centre and they tested it and said there was nothing wrong with it but they reinstalled the firmware and reset the counter.   I reinstalled it when I got home (Using the Add Printer) and again I was able to print a test page but then nothing else.  Now I can't even print a test page.  Any advice pleae?  (Simple language please!)

  • Hi,

    We need to remove the existed corrupted printer driver first. The following steps for removing a printer may be referred.

    Remove printer

    1. Click the "Start" button, type PRINTER in the search box and press Enter.

    2. Find the icons which are related to the printer, and delete them.

    3. Right-click on the blank part of the window, and choose "Run as administrator"->"Server Properties".

    4. On the Drivers tab, select the listed printer and click the Remove button. Please then select Remove driver and driver package.

    5. Open Start menu, input APPWIZ.CPL in the Search box and press ENTER to launch "Programs and Features".

    6. Try to remove all related printer software.

    Then, I suggest that you download the latest driver from Epson website and install it.

    I suggest that you disable the anti-virus and firewall temporary before installing the driver.

    If the issue persists, I suggest that you clear the printing subsystem, and then reinstall the printer.

    Step 1

    ======

    Start Windows Explorer, and then rename all files and folders in the following two folders:

    c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86

    To rename a file, we can right click the file and select Rename.

    Step 2

    ======

    1. Click Start, type REGEDIT in the Start Search Bar, and then press ENTER.

    2. Navigate to and then click the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environment\Windows NT x86

    View the list of subkeys. There should be only the following subkeys:

    Drivers

    Print Processors

    If there are any keys other than those listed above, follow these steps:

    a. On the File menu, click Export.

    b. In the File Name box, type a descriptive name for this key -- for example, type WindowsNTx86regkey -- and then click Save to save it to your local Desktop.

    We can use this backup of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environment\Windows NT x86 registry key to restore the key if you experience any problems after you complete this procedure.

    c. Delete all keys other than Drivers and Print Processors.

    Step 3

    ======

    Navigate to and click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors registry key. View the list of subkeys. There should be only the following subkeys:

    BJ Language Monitor

    Local Port

    Microsoft Document Imaging Writer Monitor

    Microsoft Shared Fax Monitor

    Standard TCP/IP Port

    USB Monitor

    WSD Port

    If there are any keys other than those listed in above, follow these steps to delete them:

    a. On the File menu, click Export.

    b. In the File Name box, type a descriptive name for this key -- for example, type Monitorsregkey -- and then click Save to save it to your local Desktop.

    We can use this backup of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors registry key to restore the key if you experience any problems after you complete this procedure.

    c. Delete all keys other than the 5 listed above.

    Step 4. Disconnect the printer cable from the computer, and then restart the computer.

    Step 5. Reconnect the printer cable to the computer, install the printer according to the manufacturer's installation instructions, and then check if the issue persists.

    Then please reinstall the driver with the downloaded latest driver.

  • I have Epson Print CD but the Recent Documents is grayed out. I had a similar issue with Office and found there was a registry key that fixed that. Is there something in the Registry that can be done to allow Recent Documents to show in the EPSON PRINT CD Software Version 1.6? Any help appreciated.

  • I had a similar problem with same printer. Epson informed me no drivers were available for R300 on vista and suggested i purchase a new printer. My technican has not got it to work with r300m drivers. It still won't print to DVD's. Epson not at all helpful so don't buy their printers. The ink status monitor would not work but it does now No thanks to epson. I have always used epson printers  but this is the last one i will have. On the other hand we don't know if others will have a similar problem. When you buy items you just seem to be at their mercy.
