  • Hello Giggles,

Microsoft ISATAP is a IPv6 related component. The driver for ISTAP can be reinstalled via Device Manager -  Action – Add legacy hardware.

However, if the problem persists after reinstalling the driver, you may need to refer to the following KB article:

(KB932520) On a Windows Vista-based computer, the Microsoft ISATAP adapter appears with a yellow exclamation mark next to it in Device Manager, and you also receive an error message

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;932520

    Hope it helps!

    Hello

Thank you for your response.  I did manage to delete this, and did a system restore. Everything is working well so far.

Another question if I may?  My desktop is in serious need of reformatting.  The thing is I can no longer see my drive for dvd/cd.  I can't figure out how to map those do do a backup.

    Can you help?

  • Hello Brenda,

Thank you for the feedback and I’m happy to hear that you’ve mitigate the problem.

For the new issue you report, please understand that we usually focus on only one issue in one thread, because this behavior will help other community members more conveniently find and participate the discussion.

The best support resource for this issue should be:

    Windows Vista Setup

Having said that, I’d love to recommend some information for your new question:

    1.    If you cannot see your CD/DVD drive, you should firstly go to the Device Manager and check the device status. If the device is with error mark or recognized as unknown device. You may need to reinstall the driver for the device, and it’s recommended to use the updated driver downloaded from the manufacturer’s website.

    2.    If the Device Manager can correctly recognize the device as CD/DVD drive, you may try to enter Disk Management (Run “diskmgmt.msc” ) and manually reassign a drive letter for the drive. (Near the bottom of the window, right-click the CD/DVD drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths…)

Hope it helps and keep smiling!

  • I am also getting this message, and elsewhere I learned that it is the reason I am not able to put my computer to "sleep".  I am still trying to understand what to do if this error is causing my problem.

I am not a power user but not a novice either. Can I use the Install Legacy Hardware option mentioned at your suggested page and download a new driver in the process.  Will it solve the sleep problem?

    Thanks,

  • Hi I had the same problem and I uninstalled the device. After I tried to reinstall it, it only shows adapter #4. I also rebooted my computer, but it only shows #4 with an error. What should I do?

  • Have you tried this? Open command prompt as an administrator and run this command:

    netsh winsock reset catalog

"This command resets the Winsock catalog to the default configuration. This can be useful if a malformed LSP is installed that results in loss of network connectivity. While use of this command can restore network connectivity, it should be used with care because any previously-installed LSPs will need to be re-installed."
