Network adapter IPv4 Connectivity randomly goes to 'Not Available'

    问题

  • Windows 7 Professional : Everything on the PC is up to date, windows updates, drivers and so on.  I have already dealt with the manufacturer of the router and it is functioning nominally.  I have several other wireless devices that use this same router and none of them exhibit this behavior.

My story is this; about a month ago my wireless router died and I replaced it with a 802.11b/g/n the PC had a 802.11g card in it and I wanted to make use of the upgrade in speed so I purchased a new NIC and this is were all the fun begins!  After dealing with the manufacture of the NIC and their solution was that perhaps I got a lemon card to take it back and get a new card.  I opted to instead of getting a new card to just get a USB dongle.  And the problem of network connectivity still exists.  So it's not the NIC causing the problem it's windows.

I dove into the System event log and there was quite a bit of stuff there.  Some of it is above the scope of my knowledge.  It's my wife's PC and its making her more crazy then she already is and then she gets all mad and starts taking it out on me! Oi!

I put the event log out on my Google Drive and if there is somebody that knows more then I could tell me what to do to fix this I'd really appreciated it!!

    Here is the --> Event log ( https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3POE6E6Ym6oUlBCOGtMUzc3OFU )

If you need anymore info I'll supply anything you need!

Thanks so much for the help!

  • Hi,
From your Event log, I  found there are two error messages which cause this issue. As this, I would give your following suggestions.
1.To  the Error about WLAN Extensibility Module has failed to start, you should do as below link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392896(v=ws.10).aspx

2.To resolve the Warning about DNS Client Events, the below link can help you:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itpronetworking/thread/3fbd0f3e-ea83-44c8-b17b-ab877d208315

    Hopes these can help you.

  • 1. Which drivers have you used for WiFi? From WiFi device vendor or from Microsoft? I always use those from device vendor.

    2. Many problems are away if you install your computer in the following order after vanilla plain Windows are installed: chipset driver, video card, audion,NIC/WiFi. (many USB devices need software installation before plugging device in computer)

    3. Do you use address reservations (DHCP reserved addresses based on MAC address)

    4. Are there any logs that reflect the communication between affected computer and router.

    5. Here is an article that covers this error http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd392896(v=ws.10).aspx

    6. Windows 7 has special tool for testing access to Internet. If the tool does not recognize acces in time, you will have a "cross" on the graphical picture of network structure, in spite of the fact, that you can reach hosts on Internet. This "cross" disappeares soon.

Neither one of these helped.  Restarting WLAN service was successful but the problem still exists.  The thread in #2 didn't make any sense to me what so ever!

#1 have tried both vendor and MS dirvers

#2 i followed the installation instructions to the 'T.'   This particular one wanted the dirver(s) installed before the device was plugged in, which I did

#3 No, the only thing I did was set the lease expire to forever.  Although the problem existed even before I did this

#4 There's a log on the router but it appears to look normal to me.  Here's the router log ( https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3POE6E6Ym6oU1NSRkNYSEc0WW8 )

#5 Was pretty useless.  Spencer Xi in the thread above your's had the same thing.

#6 What the tool?  Although it's not going to do much good if the NIC isn't working.

Try to use a network cable to conncet internet instead of your wifi.

If it's ok, let me know when you use wifi what's static of your network icon on your down right corner of computer.(Red fork, Orage ball or Yellow exclamation)

  • Hi,
I recommend that you should open CMD and type IPCONFIG/ALL to check if you can get right IP address. For example, if your gateway is 192.168.1.1, you should get IP address like 192.168.1.x. If not, try to use other's computer which can connect to your router, to check the DHCP setting.
If you can get a right IP address, you should test whether the remote gateway is pingable. Open CMD and type ping xxxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx(this is gateway) . If gateway is not pingable, try to find other's computer which have wireless function to connect. If that computer also has a same problem, it's must something wrong with your router's DHCP. Please trouble shooting it or contact with device manufactory.
If you can get a right IP address and also can ping your gateway. There may be something wrong with your DNS. To fix it, you should do as following show:
    1. find the wireless icon at your down right corner right click it--->Open network and sharing center.
    2. At the left side of the window, you will find Change adapter settings option and then click it.
    3. Find the wireless icon and right click it, choose properties.
4.Find the Internet Protocol Version 4 and double click it.
5.Make sure the Obtain an IP address automatically be selected. Also you should choose Use the
following DNS server addresses to manual setup your DNS.
6.Preferred DNS server: type your ISP's DNS server. Alternate DNS server: type 8.8.8.8. But i suggest you type Preferred DNS server with 8.8.8.8 and don't care about Alternate DNS server.
Then click OK and to try.

    Let me know the  results.

  • Spencer,

Well I changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 using Googles DNS servers are probably faster and more accurate then using Comcasts.  I'll have to wait and hear if she complains.

I guess the next step is making that address static on the PC.  I have a wireless card in my PC which is disabled cause I use the wired connect due to the router being only two feet away.  I did disable my wired card and enable the wireless card  I have no issue.  My two smart phones have no issues nor do they get dropped off the home network.  I have a Roku device that connects wireless and have no issues with that either.  It's just this Win7 box, there's some thing quirky with it as with everything Microsoft.

If I have more issues I'll post back!  Thanks!

Doing the ipconfig /all I see the router (when it's connected) and all the addresses are right.

No luck.  I'm watching the connection status of it and it goes from connected to unconnected and keep flickering back and forth.  While that is going on you have the wireless symbol with a blue circular arrows turning in the system tray.

I don't know whats the problem is cause this makes no sense what so ever!

  • I guess your  wireless  driver may have some problems, you can try using DriverPerformer to update your wireless driver. Also make sure you are using a right encryption mode of your wireless to access your router.

Thanks for your suggestions but the driver was the very first thing.  Been doing this entirely to long that I don't trust anything that comes right out of the box.

As for the encryption, I had issues tied into my existing issues because of this and that was about two months ago.  I took a crash course on solving the encryption problem.  I was kind of disappointed when it only solved part of my problem.

    Thanks for your input!

  • Hi

I need your some screenshots  when the issues happened, these are “Network adapters” (in your Device Manager), “IPCONFIG”(type in CMD),

“Network status icon” ( at the lower right corner). Also when problems happened, you can try to right click wireless status icon and select Troubleshoot problems options, then record any information from troubleshoot tool and post at forum.

  • No problem I can do that!

But before I do that I asked a couple of my fellow colleagues in IT if anybody had a wireless 'N' router and one of the network infrastructure guys had one laying around.  It's a reputable brand router.  I just want to see if perhaps the signal from this current router is on the edge of failure.  It's a cheap router (Keebox) but they claim their range is 50ft contingent of building materials.  I live in a single floor apartment (969sq ft) and from were the router is to were this PC that is giving me the problem is perhaps 30 ft at best.  A few walls and doors, plus furniture stand its way.

I'll have that router this evening and will give it a try and if the PC becomes stable, well, we know that this current router just doesn't have the juice to push that signal.  But then, why does the adapter lie and tell me there's a 'good' to 'excellent' signal??

    I'll keep this tread posted.

  • Hi,

I guess it's not signal's problem. One suggestion is that you can set your wireless router with WPA-Personal mode and then set your USB wireless card with WPA-PSK mode to access.
