Add role of Remote desktop services

    Question

  • Hi,

I've install a SBS2008 premium, witch contains a extra dvd for installing a windows 2008 standard server. So i"ve done so. Now i want to add the role "Remote Desktop Services" to that second server, but if i choose to add roles, the "remote desktop services" is not there, the only similar thing i can add as role is "terminal services".  Is this the same ? Or do i have to install, download something so i can see the role ?

Info, disc 4 mentions (the one i installed on the second server) : Windows Server 2008 Standard Technologies, x64, Includes Windows server 2008 service pack 2.

    Newbie to remote desktop services

  • Hi,

Within Windows Server 2008 it was still called Terminal Services, since Windows Server 2008 R2 it's called Remote Desktop Services.

  • But will i have the same functions and possibilities ?

like RemoteApp, RD web Access, RD gateway, etc...

Or if i install the "terminal server" role, will i have the classic terminal server installation/functions.
