Can't delete hyper-v vm because of it's current state.

    Question

  • I was attempting to setup a new VM using an old VHD file. The VM creation failed and now when I try to delete it it says it cannot delete it because of the current state the VM is in. The vm won't start, and I have removed the vm folder for this vm.

I delete the vm from SCVMM but it keeps showing back up in SCVMM.  I have deleted the vm folder for  the failed vm.

This is a VM I was attempting to set up in a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Cluster Shared Volume.

No files appear to be left but SCVMM and Hyper-V Manager still think the vm is there.
