Windows server 2008 restarts unexpecteldy

    One of my Primary DC restarts unexpectedly, I think it is somewhere related to NTFS or disk issue.

    could somebody help me to fix this... I am just struggling badly... :(

  • Check Event Log for disk I/O subsystem related messages. If spindle is dying it will eventually be reported to abort / delay commands. Use some free tool (Bing-Fu there are tons of them) to get SMART status for underlying spindle. Run chkdsk to see is there any volume metadata corruption.

    Do you want me to check specific Disk I/O messages in event log, if so could you pls tell me event id's to check...

    you said to check with some free tools, could you name of some so can check with it, will they scan HDD's? and take a long time for scanning?
