  • Actually your registry has a bad key

    Login Error

C:\Windows\System32\Config\Systemprofile\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable

    ALSO HAD

    Acrobat Distiller

    Error Initializing Interpreter Fatal Error

This happened after Acrobat 9.46 update, but evidently can happen on any bootup

Login as different user, machine boots fine
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Look for a profile ending in.bak
Find the other one with the exact name and delete it
Remove the .bak from the first key
    Reboot

  • Hi

I did something very daft on my windows 2008R2 dev machine today. To cut a long story short, I have recently been allocated the machine which has a lot of service accounts  configured by someone who is currently on holiday.

I went to Services -> User Profile Service then changed the account from Local System to my AD account (aaaaahhhhh!)

Rebooted the machine, then I RDPd to my dev server with my AD account. I have a local admin account but not I suspect directory replicaton .

    1) I  get error message ( see below)

    2) Common Start menu items are there but anything trying to read my profile e.g. Gimp fails.

    3) I cannot run Admin -> tools -> Services

    4) I have managed to run PowerShell cmd window

Hence, is there a way either remotely or locally to restart the User Profile Service with Local System account?

    Help!!!! SOS!!!!
