Direct Access

    Question

  • Can Direct Access be configured with all of the necessary roles and features all installed on the same Windows Server 2012 machine?  I need it to be able to connect Windows 7 clients using only 1 network card on the server.

  • Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that you wanted to install Direct Access server on the Windows Server 2012 with only one network card.

If I had misunderstood anything, please feel free to let me know.

Direct Access requires adapters with static IP addresses. In general, Direct Access server needs two different network cards to access both intranet and internet networks.

In Windows Server 2012, Direct Access server allows remote clients located in different domains.

However, it’s not recommended to install Direct Access Server role on a Domain Controller. It would be better to have a Domain Controller that is on the perimeter network.
