How to create TXT record for SPF in Windows server 2008 core

    Question

  • Hi,

    I am trying to create SPF record in Windows server 2008 Core external DNS server. Can somebody help me with the command on how to create it

  • In addition to Meinolf's response, you can try the following:

    • Right click your zone name
    • Choose Other New Records
    • Scroll down the list and choose Text (TXT)
    • Click Create Record
    • Leave the field blank that says Record name (uses parent domain if left blank):
    • Copy and paste your SPF record into the Text: box

    If you need assistance in creating the actual SPF record, such as the format, etc, for your domain, please let us know.

     Late Addition:

    I missed the part where you said Server 2008 Core. If this is the case without the GUI, you can use DNSCMD. This is an example using domain.local as the zone adding an SPF record.

    Dnscmd server_name /RecordAdd domain.local @ TXT "v=spf1 ptr:mx.domain.local ?all"
