Your computer is trying to use a DNS server that is incorrect or doesn’t exist?

    Question

  • I keep getting this message when I troubleshoot my internet connection. I've been googling things about this all day and nothing seems to be working for me.
Running Windows 8 on a SONY VAIO. Other devices in the house are connecting properly. Laptop is connecting wirelessly.

    I've tried:
    1) resetting the router
    2)  ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns
    3) ipconfig /renew but it just tells me that media is disconnected
    4) netsh winsock reset and the other two resets, ipv4 and ipv6

Not sure what else to do, internet randomly works and stops working. It'll work for a minute and then is down for two.

  • Hi,

Also, you can use network troubleshooting tools, such as Ping, Pathping or tracert when issue occurs.

Try to connect internet with Ethernet adapter and check if the same problem occurs. If not, please update or reinstall your wireless adapter driver.

You can check system log with windows event viewer to see what happened when your network was stopped.

    Hope this helps.
