DHCP assigned Static IP address problem

    Question

  • a network administrator may implement dynamically assigned static IP addresses. In this case, a DHCP server is used, but it is specifically configured to always assign the same IP address to a particular computer, and never to assign that IP address to another computer. but how?

I am not want to add client by MAC address and not manually configurated.Need to know other option for assign static ip

how to implement this? is there any command use at client pc. or else to implement explain it ?????????

  • AFAIK there are only 2 options in DHCP server,

    a) reservations,
    b) exclusion list

earlier sys admins followed the below way which is not valid

get an ip assigned via dhcp, fix this to static.

the above procedure will end up in communication problems once the lease expires.
