Issue with Hotfix 979683 & Blackberry Enterprise Server

    General discussion

  • I installed hotfix 979683 on to a Server 2008 R2 box yesterday, and it broke BES 5.0.1 (SP1 MR2).  When I remove the update it fixes my issue (installed / removed a few times).

When the update is installed the following services terminate “unexpectedly” after they start:

    ·          Blackberry Administration Service – Application Server

    ·          Blackberry Administration Service – Native Code Container

    Any suggestions?

Event log data is as follows:

  • Hi Mike,

It seems that there are some confliction with BES and hotfix 979683. To work around this issue, you may choose the one of the following options:

    1. Do not install BES on the Server until BlackBerry supports brings a solution to fix this issue.

    Or

    2. Uninstall the hotfix 979683 to keep the BES running on the server.

  • Thanks for your response Wilson. Are you acknowledging others have reported the same issue?

And for now, I’ve chosen option #2. Please post back here if you learn of the fix.

  • Thank you for the connect link as well. I have unmarked your comments as the “answer” because your comments do not solve my problem. Avoiding a problem is not the same as solving it.
