HYper-V RC0 - NIC, Video in guest OS not working

    Question

  •

    Hello,

    maybe you can help:

    Installed WS2008 RTM plus Hyper-V RC0 on

    DELL PE1900

    2 QuadCore

    Broadcom Netextreme  NIC

    Broadcom Netextreme II NIC

Have installed WS2008 as guest OS and also WS2003 SP2 as guest OS. Works OK, I can boot, logon and the machines run, but

In the WS08 guest OS neither Video Card, NICs nor HID device seem to work. Device Manager shows the devices as

"Microsoft VMBUS Video Device Video Device"

    "Microsoft VMBUS Network Adapter"

    "Microsoft VMBUS Network Adapter II"

    "Microsoft VMBUS HID Device"

with a yellow triangle and exclamation mark in it.

What did I do wrong or missed to install ?

    thanks

looks that you didn't install the Integration Componentes (IC). Within the VMConnect window, go to Action and "Install Integration Components" or similar, right now I just have a German system to look at...

  • If you applied the RC0 patch to your Hyper-V host then you also need to apply the RC0 patch to your Hyper-V virtual machine (and vice versa) as the patch upgrades the Integration Components.

  • Many thanks,

    Peter Forster was right.

Installing the  "Integration Components" from the Hyper-V Window - Menu did the trick.

I could install the relevant drivers for NIC and mouse.

Unfortunately the Video card still resists and shows the yellow triangle.

Updating the driver results in: "You have the latest driver instaled".

I also could get my old "Dynamics CRM 4.0" Virtual Server Image (on WS2003) running now on 2 procs. :-) :-)

  • Howdie,

have you installed the RC0 bits also within the guest partition?
