The user profile Service service failed the log on

    Question

  • A customer of mine is facing an issue with CAS/Hub server login; user has domain Admin and exchange required privileges ; but when they try to login to the Exchange server they receive the message "The user profile Service service failed the log on" and exchange try to load some files to TEMP profile which does not exist.

Can anyone please help identify the possible causes?

    Thanks

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your question.

This issue may occur if the user profile was corrupted or deleted manually or by other means. A profile that is manually deleted does not remove the SID from the profile list in the registry. If the SID is present, Windows will try to load the profile by using the ProfileImagePath that points to a nonexistent path. Therefore, the profile cannot be loaded.

Error message: "The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded”, when logging on to Windows server 2008/7/Vista

    Raid,

Does this user have a roaming profile?

If not, the user doesn't have administrative privileges to create their own profile. You as an admin can gerate it for them.

    run - systempropertiesadvanced.exe

Then click on "profile > settings" - Click to highlight "Default Profile" and click the Copy To... Button.

Type the "Copy to" location as C:\users\(users name here)

Then click on the "Permitted to use" button and find that users name in AD. It will take only short moments to copy. Then try to login.
