WMS 2011 standard = 8gb of ram max! (edited)

    Question

  • I just upgraded WMS 2010 to WMS 2011 standard and I discovered in the system properties:

Installed memory (RAM): 12 Gb (8Gb usable)

I didn't see any information on that limitation!

So here are my two questions:

    1. Where can I find the limitation of each version? With this one written!

EDIT: Sorry! I found it in the deployment guide.. I missed the information!

    2. Can I upgrade from standard to premium version?

  • It is not possible to upgrade from Standard to Premium.  A reinstall is needed.  You are able to upgrade from 2010 to 2011 though. And we are investigating allowing the ability to upgrade between editions in V3.

  • The standard edition of WMS 2011 replaces the OEM edition of WMS 2010, both had an 8GB maximum.  It's the WMS 2011 premium edition that is the direct replacement for WMS 2010 Academic.  Both those editions have a 32 GB maximum.

The differences between standard and premium are spelled out in the deployment guide:
