  • The question is this error related to installation on VMWare or should be used Product Key? If product key is needed where it could be found?

  • Remove the floppy drive from vmware player. This will resolve the issue.

    This will effectively disable the vmware easy-install system.

  • Hi,

    I agree with Iozay.

    I find an article with the same issue from the following link:

    How to Install Windows Server 8 Beta on VMware Workstation 8
    http://clusteringformeremortals.com/2012/03/01/how-to-install-windows-server-8-beta-on-vmware-workstation-8/

    Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

    The solution from this article is the same as Iozay provided.

    It is recommended to contact VMware to confirm if they will release an updated version of VMware to fix this issue.

  • Hi,

    I am trying to install Windows 8 Server Beta x64 in an Oracle Virtual Machine through an unattend file, but I am getting the below error,

    "windows cannot read the <product key> setting from the unattended answer file".

    I used the below lines in unattended file

    <UserData>
           <ProductKey>
                   <Key></Key>
            </ProductKey>
         <AcceptEula>true</AcceptEula>
    </UserData>                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Any help?
