can't log on to my computer

    Question

  • I've had my laptop for several years and when powered up brings me to a "log on " window, where I type in my password, and then the Windows Vista OS boots and away I go. Several weeks ago, when I powered up, I got a message after I typed in my password ..

"The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

Now, I can't work on my computer because I can't get on it. I don't have a password reset disc, and I can't afford to lose my files, this being the end of the year with taxes and all. I am stuck.

Please, if there is anything that could help.
