Procedure to split forest into domains that includes Exchange server

    Question

  • I am looking for a procedure that will properly enable us to split a forest domain into separate domains that includes Exchange server.  The procedure should take into account FSMO roles, DNS, AD replication, Mailboxes, user accounts ect.  Where can I find such a procedure.

This is required do to a split of a company into two separate companies.

    Thank you for any help,

  • Hi,

You would like to split forest into domains the include Exchange server.

If you would like to separate the users in the GAL that only the same company users could view the contacts. I think you need to do GAL segregation.

Could you please let me know your Exchange server version? For more detailed information about the GAL Segmentation, you could refer to the link below:

If you would like to split forest into different domains such as child domain, you need to follow the article below to do the Cross-Forest Mailbox Moves:

  • We would like to split the domain into 2 domains.  There will be and Exchange server in both of the newly created domains.  Users will be split be physical location.

    Thank you,
