Windows Server 2003 Web-Edition Licensing Question

  • We have a Windows Server 2003, Web-Edition that is currently serving anonymous, external (internet) users a few web-forms.

We have another Windows Server 2003, Standard-Edition that is currently serving internal users a web-application. Every user that accesses this server has a valid, Windows Server 2003 CAL.

We would like to consolidate these two servers into a single server. I understand that based on the licensing for Windows Server 2003, Web-Edition we must maintain that server to serve our anonyous, external (internet) users. However, if we deployed our web-application (for internal users) onto the Windows Server 2003, Web-Edition server, is this permitted under the current licensing for Windows Server 2003, Web-Edition? As noted earlier, every internal user has a valid Windows Server 2003 CAL, so the question is really can those CALs be used on Windows Server 2003, Web-Edition?

    Thank you for your time.
