Difference between Administrator and an user with "Administrator" Rights

    Question

  • Hi

    following Environment:

    -Windows Server 2008 R2 Standalone.
    -Administrator
    -User1 (member of the Administratoren Group)

    Situation:
    The User "Administrator" can start the script "sendmail.vbs".
    Wenn the User "User1" starts the same script he get an error Message: CDO.Message1

    For my understanding: the Administrator and an user with admin Rights behave different!! Is that correct? Or how can we configure the user "user1" that he has the same rights?

    Thanks for any help

    Kurt

    Set ObjMail = CreateObject("CDO.Message")
    ObjMail.From = "user1@dummy.net"
    ObjMail.To = "user2@dummy.net"
    ObjMail.Subject = "Testmail"
    objMail.HTMLBody = "Dies is a message " & NOW
    objMail.send
    Set ObjMail = Nothing
    msgBox("done")

  • The difference is that User Account Control is not activated for the built-in administrator account while this is being enforced on other administrators. If you run the script from a cmd.exe with administrators priviliges (search for cmd.exe and right click it to choose "Run as administrator") and then run the script to see if that makes a difference.
